The
STUDIO was the first variable-power production
amplifier and it still outperforms all others in sheer
flexibility and tonal range. All of the sonic textures
available from previous versions of the STUDIO
are here - plus worlds more!
Each
of the four stages in the preamp has an adjustable
plate supply, variable biasing and variable voicing.
Three LEDs indicate when the tube is configured in
the range for clean sustain, or for either of two
different ranges of distortion. Three interstage attenuators
each have variable attenuation and frequency shaping.
The two-way EQ can be swapped with any of the attenuators.
The
effects loop is fully buffered and features front
panel controls and lift switches.
The
power section is push-pull with LOUD,
BODY and POWER
SCALE controls setting the general clean-to-compression-to-distortion
range. Each power tube can be dialed in or out and
has switchable and mixable cathode-to-fixed bias,
plus its own T-U-P
switch (triode/ultra-linear/pentode). Variable
DAMPING, SPARKLE and SHAPE
perform frequency shaping within the power amp. The
amp can be switched to true single-ended operation,
with the ability to dial in warmth for both SE and
PP modes.
Each
of the two speaker outputs has its own impedance matching,
phase and mute switches. Any load can be tied to any
"match" chosen strictly for tone.
Although
the STUDIO amp is optimized for use in recording
studios, it does have the amp switching link feature
of the other models in this line.

the list of features
common to the new line of London Power instrument
amplifiers.
