Ambient sounds are all around us. Sounds bounce off trees, buildings, water and mountains. Sounds that do not have ambient information attached just don't seem natural. Traditional tube-driven reverb is either too muddy or too bulky and expensive. Digital reverb can sound artificial. London Power's push-pull reverb driver provides cleaner drive than the usual single-ended tube drive stage. This means your distortion sounds or complex music signals will not be muddied by the reverb signal. Cleaner than tube. Warmer than digital. The best of both worlds!
The original 3-D was designed for use with musical instruments, built into many of London Power's amplifiers as well as being offered as a stand-alone unit. DEPTH controls how hard the reverb delay line is driven; REVERB sets the balance or loudness of the ambient sound; CONTOUR shapes the reverb sound. The output can be set to be a mix of the "dry" input signal and reverb sound, or to be just the "wet" reverb sound.
The 3D-ST accepts stereo input signals or mono, and can output in either stereo or mono. The dry audio path is pristine clean, so even the most critical applications can have warm tube reverb added.
3D-ST's topology allows for proper stereo positioning of the reverb signal with respect to left and right input signals. It can also output just the ambient signal from either or both outputs. This is a great feature when patched into a loop on a mixing console, or in a home theatre where the rear speakers are used for ambience only. DEPTH controls how hard the delay line is driven; CONTOUR shapes the reverb tone; REVERB sets the ambient signal level. 3D-ST's configuration switches also allow the inputs to be mixed.
3-D uses four tubes where 3D-ST uses five. The low-noise, low-microphonic12AT7s combine with broadcast-quality transformers and thoughtful design to provide stellar performance for home, stage and professional applications.
For both units, all inputs and outputs are transformer isolated and have both 1/4" T-R-S balanced and RCA unbalanced phono connections. 3-D and 3D-ST can operate at instrument or line levels. A foot-switch can be used to turn the reverb on and off.
3-D and 3D-ST are 2U (3.5" or 88mm high).
