London Power's past product archives:
AMERICAN
vintage American sound with Power Scaling

Detailed description

The AMERICAN can produce the sound of any classic Fender amp, when fitted with appropriate output tubes and connected to appropriate speakers.

Yes, really.

Fender's tone is warm and full. Simple circuits produce an uncluttered sound that everyone knows. It is as simple as connecting the right speaker, plugging in the right output tubes and setting one or two controls.

Easy set-ups for London Power's AMERICAN amp:

Champ: Plug in one or two 6V6s. Set BODY to SE. Flip K 'up'.
Double Champ: Plug in two or four 6V6s. Set BODY to SE. Flip K 'up'.
Champ 12: Plug in a pair of 6L6s. Set BODY to SE. Flip K 'up'.
Tweed Deluxe: Plug in a pair of 6L6s. Set BODY to PP. Flip K 'up'.
Deluxe: Plug in a pair of 6V6s. Set BODY to PP. Flip K 'down'.
Most other Fender amps up to 50W: Plug in a pair of 6L6s, Set BODY to PP. Flip K 'down'.
Twin, Showman: Plug in four 6L6s. Set BODY to PP. Flip K 'down'.
Add reverb to any of the above: Dial up REVERB as desired.
Add a tube rectifier to any of the above: Dial SUSTAIN to taste.

Want a more Tweedy tone? Plug in some 12AY7s and get mellow.

Of course, Fender amps never had LONDON POWER's BODY control or a bias switch, but they never tried to do all of their vintage sounds in one amp without DSP! We also added our SUSTAIN control to reproduce tube rectifier effects and POWER SCALE to give variable output power from 0-50W.

You can create sounds of Fender amps that never were. The individual bias adjusts for each output tube allow mixing tube types, using any grade of tube, and even having one of four different types installed at the same time - including EL34s. One, two, three or four output tubes. Anything goes. Don't try that with a vintage Fender!

The AMERICAN has impedance matching for 2, 4, 8 and 16 ohm speakers. For a Bassman sound, hook up four 10" 8-ohm drivers all wired in parallel for 2-ohms total. Or, get a Pro sound with a 15" or the Twin sound with two 12"s. You can use the impedance matches or ignore them. Just hook up whatever sounds best without worry. Our massive output transformer will deliver thundering low-end and scintillating highs regardless.

Of course, Fender is famous for their reverb sound. That's here, too, to give that "finish" and dimension to your singing guitar work. And what is a Fender tribute amp without a Bright switch? Not AMERICAN.
